Renault’s top-selling Koleos has been awarded the maximum rating of 5 Stars by ANCAP on its 4x2 range of vehicles.

The Koleos was awarded the maximum 5 Star rating by Euro NCAP when it commenced sales in Europe in 2017. Under the alignment protocol between Euro NCAP and ANCAP, Koleos, now available with Advanced Emergency Braking, Cruise Control, Speed Limiter and Lane Departure Warning as standard across the range, has been awarded the maximum 5 star result.

Commenting on the result, Andrew Moore, Managing Director Renault Australia, said, “Safety is a priority for Renault, and accordingly we have upgraded Koleos to include standard safety features like AEB and Lane Departure Warning to ensure a 5 star ANCAP safety rating.

Renault’s top-selling model – the Koleos medium SUV – is now available with a choice of two engines, with a powerful yet frugal diesel joining the line-up in September.

“The Koleos has always been our top-selling model in Australia,” said Renault Australia Managing Director, Justin Hocevar. “And with the arrival of a diesel engine to complete the line-up, there’s no question that Koleos will continue to go from strength to strength. The second-generation Koleos launched here in August 2016, which was its global sales debut, demonstrating how important this model is in the continued expansion of Renault’s business in Australia. Since then, we have sold over 2,600 units and orders keep flooding in.

“It’s no surprise, as the Koleos ticks so many boxes,” said Hocevar. “It has the rugged, robust characteristics of an SUV wrapped in a stylish distinctive exterior, combined with interior refinement you’d expect from a more expensive, high-end vehicle. Its feature list is as long as your arm and its safety credentials are top-notch.”

The Renault Koleos Diesel is available in one variant with 4X4 driven wheels and All-Mode 4X4-i technology. It features a 2.0 litre turbo charged engine, delivering 130kW of power and 380Nm of torque, with fuel economy of 6.1 litres/100km and CO2 emissions of 159 g/km.

This 2.0 litre diesel engine is smooth and powerful yet much quieter than most diesel engines. It also features an Energy Package with Smart Electrical Management and variable capacity oil pump.

The engine is mated to the same XTRONIC Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) as the petrol-powered Koleos. This transmission avoids the ‘rubber band’ feeling of conventional CVTs to provide on-demand acceleration thanks to a wider ratio spread. A manual mode is also available to further enhance its dynamic drive. It is calibrated differently to work with the torque characteristics of the diesel engine.

The Koleos Diesel also benefits from extended service intervals of up to 30,000km or 12 months, just like its petrol-powered cousin.

The Renault Koleos Diesel mirrors the specification level of the top-selling Intens variant of the petrol-powered Koleos. It features the Advanced Driver Assist Systems (Blind Spot Monitoring, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Advanced Emergency Braking Inter-urban), Easy Park Assist (hands-free parking), Pure Vision LED headlights with auto high/low beam, hands-free power tailgate, electric panoramic sunroof, BOSE® audio system with 12 speakers, subwoofer and digital amplifier, leather upholstery with heated/ventilated front seats and ambient cabin lighting, just to name a few.

The Koleos Diesel has the addition of automatic engine stop/start, however does not feature remote engine start. The new Renault Koleos Diesel is available for the Manufacturer’s List Price of $46,990, excluding dealer delivery and statutory charges.

The all-new Renault Koleos is an SUV to meet the demands of customers on every continent and made its global sales debut in Australia from the 1st of August 2016.

“The all-new Koleos is an extremely important model for us,” said Renault Australia Managing Director, Justin Hocevar. “The new model is vastly different from anything we have offered in Australia. We are the first market to sell the all-new Koleos and performed local pre-series testing. Coupled with the vehicle’s outstanding specification levels and value for money, this demonstrates not only how important the Koleos is for Australia but also Renault’s global commitment to this market and our region.”

The all-new Koleos will be the flagship of Renault’s range in Australia and brings a number of new safety technologies, specifications and all-new styling. Three variants will be available: Life, Zen and Intens. This brings Australian vehicles in-line with global nomenclature. All have a 2.5 litre engine delivering 126kW at 6000rpm and 226Nm of torque at 4400rpm, coupled with a re-engineered CVT (Xtronic) to provide smooth and dynamic driving.

Outside, the new Koleos has taut, powerful, muscular lines. It is instantly recognisable as a Renault flagship, echoing the styling cues of Renault’s prestige sedan, the Talisman. Inside, the Koleos features a refined, comfortable interior and ambient cabin lighting that can be customised to suit the driver’s mood. The new R-LINK2 system has a seven inch touch screen in the Life and Zen models. In the Intens model, this is replaced by a portrait 8.7 inch screen, offering the same tactile functions as a tablet.

The all-new Koleos has an engaging and elevated driving position. This allows excellent visibility, while the wide centre console enhances the sensation of spacious comfort for both driver and front passenger. In the rear, the Koleos boasts class-leading cabin space, including 289mm of rear knee room.

It’s bigger both inside and out, is one of the roomiest medium SUVs in its class and enjoys a range of new technologies that provide convenience and peace of mind. With its powerful design, SUV credentials and interior refinement, we are sure the new Koleos will be a hit with Aussie buyers,” Miller said.

Groupe Renault Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn revealed the new Renault KOLEOS, a high-end, totally redesigned SUV geared to reach 80 markets, at the Beijing International Automobile Exhibition.

“Today in Beijing, we mark the world premiere of the all-new, flagship SUV Renault KOLEOS,” said Groupe Renault Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn. “KOLEOS has been completely re-engineered with powerful styling, unique features and full SUV capability.”

“The new KOLEOS will play a critical role in the continued expansion of Renault’s business in Australia,” said Renault Australia Managing Director, Justin Hocevar. “This vehicle is a core model and the new KOLEOS will give us and our network business partners a very appealing and well-equipped product with which to compete in this very important segment. It delivers exceptional performance, comfort and safety for our customers. We are delighted and excited to see its entrance in our part of the world and look forward to it arriving in Australia,” Hocevar said.

The new KOLEOS boasts a powerful stance, with muscular exterior lines that set it apart from rivals and provides a refined, comfortable interior with class-leading cabin space, including 289mm of knee room for rear occupants.

The new KOLEOS offers an elevated driving position with excellent visibility. Compared to a traditional sedan, the new KOLEOS’ driving position is 150mm higher, a reassuring feature that is highly prized by SUV buyers. Hand grips on either side of the centre console echo the world of off-road motoring while providing the interior with a sporty feel.

Renault’s user-friendly four-wheel drive system features all mode 4x4-i technology that makes it easy to switch between 2WD, 4WD AUTO and 4WD LOCK modes. The new KOLEOS 4x4 transmission also guarantees enhanced safety and stability by neutralising understeer and oversteer and optimising grip in difficult conditions. The new KOLEOS also delivers all-terrain ability, with impressive ground clearance.

A key feature of the new KOLEOS’ interior is R-Link 2, a user-configurable experience. This system serves as a control centre to coordinate functions like BOSE audio, infotainment, navigation, hands-free telephony, radio and driver aids. In line with its market position, the new Renault KOLEOS will come equipped with a wide array of contemporary driver assistance systems that can be controlled from the R-LINK 2 tablet. New KOLEOS is instantly recognisable as a top-of-the-range Renault, thanks notably to its front-end design that incorporates a prominent Renault logo set at the centre of a broad chrome grille.

New KOLEOS will be produced at two plants – Busan in South Korea for all markets except China, plus Wuhan, China for the Chinese market. Both facilities meet Renault’s stringent manufacturing quality standards and currently produce vehicles built on the CMF-C/D architecture for brands belonging to Groupe Renault. Australian Koleos will be produced in the Renault Nissan alliance plant in Busan, Korea.

The new Renault KOLEOS is scheduled to be introduced into the Australian market during 2016.

Renault’s Koleos compact and capable range of 4x2 and 4x4 SUVs has been updated with additional equipment for 2015. Chief among the changes is a reversing camera now standard across the Renault Koleos range. Long acclaimed for its comfort, style and high levels of standard equipment, not to mention exemplary off-road sure-footedness in 4x4 guise, the Koleos story has been further enhanced with new model designations reflecting a higher level of trim and equipment. The entry grade Expression model now adds the R-Link enhanced satellite navigation system with 7-inch touchscreen as standard, as well as roof rails, auto headlights, auto windscreen wipers with rain sensor, heated door mirrors, and a new red body colour: Acerola. The Expression model is available in 2.5-litre petrol guise, in 4x2 (front-wheel drive) with a choice of a manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission.

The next step up is the Renault Koleos BOSE, available in 4x2 petrol CVT or with the 2.0-litre dCi turbo diesel engine, mated to an automatic transmission. This model adds LED daytime running lights; a new grey perforated leather upholstery, new body colours; Metallic Brown and Mineral Beige, as well as the new Red Acerola. A new BOSE Premium variant has been added, replacing the previous Privilege model. In addition to the changes on the BOSE model, the BOSE Premium also adds an electric panoramic glass sunroof, bi-Xenon directional headlamps and headlight washers, and new 18-inch “Bi-Ton” alloy wheels. The 2012-2014 Cayenne orange body colour has been discontinued. The 2015 Renault Koleos range is now on sale at the 46-strong Renault dealer network, Australia wide.

“The 2015 Renault Koleos SUV represents excellent value for money,” says Justin Hocevar, Managing Director of Renault Australia. “The Koleos is one of our pillar models and is much loved by families. It has been continually upgraded through its lifecycle to retain its competitive edge in the hard-fought compact SUV market. We are certain customers will appreciate the changes we have brought for 2015. “Australians continue to show their preference for SUVs and the Koleos continues to be an accomplished, capable and practical vehicle, which will look after its occupants very well. “During its time on the Australian market the Koleos has proven itself to be exceptionally reliable in service,” he said.

Like all Renault passenger vehicles, the Koleos is covered by a 5-year unlimited km warranty with 5 years of roadside assistance, and capped price servicing for the first 3 scheduled services at $299 per service.
