Great Wall Motors Australia has added a single cab model to its Steed range. Starting from just $18,990 driveaway for ABN holders, the Steed Single Cab will offer Australian customers a proven work tool for the lowest possible price.

“Since we re-launched the Steed nameplate in 2016, we have received strong demand from dealers and customers for the return of the single cab version,” said Great Wall Motors Australia Chief Marketing Officer Tim Smith. “With a mix of toughness, reliability and value for money, the single cab has always been a popular member of the Great Wall family. At its peak in 2012, the single cab version accounted for 55 per cent of all Great Wall utility sales,” he said. “Due to the popularity of the Steed Single Cab for small businesses, we are offering driveaway pricing for ABN holders starting at $18,990 for the 4x2 version.”

The 2018 Great Wall Steed Single Cab will be available in two specifications – 4x2 and 4x4. Both will use the same 2.0-litre diesel engine found in the dual cab version, delivering 110kW and 310Nm through a six-speed manual transmission. The single cab version will come standard with dual airbags, ABS brakes, Bosch ESP stability control, hill hold control and tyre pressure monitoring.

The Steed Single Cab boasts an 1198kg payload, while maximum towing tops out at 1700 kilograms. It comes complete with a locally manufactured aluminium tray, measuring 2400mm long by 1777mm wide with drop sides for easy access. Inside, the Steed single cab features comfortable but durable cloth fabric seats, air-conditioning and an auto-dimming rear vision mirror.

The Steed Single Cab is now available in Great Wall dealerships around Australia and comes with a three-year, 100,000 kilometre warranty, three-years’ roadside assist and three years’ service price menu.

About the Next Generation Mahindra Pik-Up:


The Mahindra PikUp’s clean, contemporary lines improve the look of the vehicle while maintaining a tough signature stance. The most compelling changes are to the front of the vehicle where the grille, headlights, bonnet and foglamps have all undergone a substantial redesign.

The new grille design is smarter, utilising a glossy black finish with subtle chrome accents (S10 Models), as well as a more prominent Mahindra badge, while the lower air intake has been reshaped to provide a stronger visual integration with the grille. Black mesh inserts are consistently applied to both the main grille and the lower air intake, creating a more consistent appearance.

The headlights on either side of the grille are also completely new, with a cleaner, more resolute appearance and a new curved LED Daytime Running Light signature for the S10 Double Cab. Bolder fog lamps are mounted in restyled apertures that are linked to the lower edge of the headlights. The redesigned front-end styling is accompanied by static bending projection lamps.


The spacious cabin of the Next Generation PikUp has undergone important upgrades as part of the model line-up. Perhaps the most obvious improvements are to the upholstery and the six-inch (6”), full colour touch screen display on the S10 Double Cab models located in the centre console.

The Mahindra PikUp’s cabin is also comprehensively equipped. As the flagship model of the range, the S10 Double Cab benefits from useful features such as remote central locking, cruise control, satellite navigation, reversing camera and a multifunction steering wheel.

The upgrade doesn’t end here. With smart features like auto wipers and intelligent headlamps the vehicle promises to take the customer experience to the next level of comfort and performance. Fully Automatic Climate Control further enhances the comfort of occupants in the S10 variants.


Safety features like Hill Descent Control, ESC, ABS, EBD, Roll-over mitigation, Airbags, Crash protection crumple zones and a Collapsible steering column are standard across the range. Strengthening our commitment to safety and comfort, we have added head rests and 3-point lap sash seat belts for all seats along with two ISOFIX anchors in the rear seat with three top tether points for all Double Cab models.


The Next Generation PikUp has an updated 2.2- litre four-cylinder mHawk turbodiesel engine which makes use of a variable geometry turbocharger to produce 103kw. The impressive torque peak of 330 Nm is reached at just 1,600rpm, and sustained to 2,800 rpm, ensuring excellent in-gear acceleration and great towing power.

The turbodiesel engine is linked to a six-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels, with 4×4 transmission with low range. The entire range of the Next Generation Mahindra PikUp is fitted with an Eaton MLD (Mechanical Locking Differential) as standard.

Mahindra has released the 2016 Genio single cab and dual cab ute and cab/chassis into a highly competitive market segment where value for money and functionality are the major attractions for buyers of working vehicles. Powered by the 2.2 litre, four cylinder, turbocharged mHAWK diesel engine and with a five-speed manual gearbox, the new 2016 Genio offers one of the most spacious cabins in its class, with impressive head, shoulder and leg room making it of particular appeal to Australian Tradies.

With its compact frontal design and minimal overhang the Genio makes full advantage of being able to minimise engine intrusion into the passenger compartment, increasing available space in the cabin. Also significant are the large, uninterrupted door openings for front and rear seat access that makes entry and exit much easier than many other popular ute designs.

Mahindra has kept to the design parameter of a ute being a working vehicle. With a strong focus on practicality, Genio offers sufficient power and performance with an impressive payload for those buyers that want a comfortable work vehicle at a sensible and affordable price. Available in both single cab and dual cab variants and in 4x2 and 4x4, each model is powered by the same 2.2 litre, four-cylinder diesel with variable geometry turbocharger that produces 88kW (120bhp) at 4,000 rpm with peak torque of 280Nm rated through from 1,800-2,800 rpm. Gear selection comes only in the form of a five-speed manual transmission, it runs on 215/70R15 tyres on alloy rims (optional) and it offers a fuel tank capacity of 75 litres.

The Genio weighs in with a kerb weight for the 4x2 single cab of 1,720kg, adds a further 100kg for 4x4 and then moves up to 1,880 kg for the dual cab 4x2, (plus a further 100kg for 4x4). The single cab, base model 4x2 cab chassis, including base heavy duty aluminium tray has a drive-away price of $19,990, with the 4x4 driveline adding a further $3,500. The drive-away price structure for the 4x2 dual cab chassis and ute models is identical at $24,990, plus the $3500 upgrade to 4x4.

When it comes to payload, the Genio offers a full 1260kg for the single cab in 4x2 form and 1100kg for the dual cab, dropping 100kg for each model if the 4x4 driveline is selected. The tow weight capacity for a braked trailer is restricted to a maximum of 1800kg. The cab/chassis versions come with a high quality alloy tray from Queensland manufacturer Triple MMM, with tray dimensions of 2700 x 1777mm for the single cab and 1950mm length x 1777mm in width for the double cab. The removable drop-sides and tailgate are 250mm in height and the GVM is 2980kg.

In line with normal conventional ute suspension systems, Genio uses a double wishbone, front independent design with coil springs, while at the rear, the semi-elliptical multi-leaf springs provide a well controlled ride through the variations of light load to fully laden operation. Brakes are disc front and drum rear. The fitment of 15-inch rims and tyres means a low tray deck height of 910mm unladen, reducing the need to lift cargo higher than waist level and facilitating the reach of the cargo from either side or the rear of the tray.

From a safety perspective there are SRS airbags for the driver and front passenger, side intrusion beams in the door construction, crash protection and crumple zones incorporated in the design, a collapsible steering column, and ABS braking. Air conditioning, power steering, central locking, cruise control, power windows and audio controls mounted on the steering wheel are standard and the optional Bluetooth phone accessory operates through a push button control on the dashboard.

The on-board Digital Drive Assist System (DDAS), trip meter and data indicator (Dual Cab Only), covers a wide range of information displayed in a central binnacle on the dashboard. Information highlighted includes interior and exterior ambient temperature, date and time, speed, fuel consumption and gear ratio selected.

Interior stowage areas are particularly useful, with a slide-out tray under the driver’s seat, plus storage space under the rear seat squab on dual cab variants to locate clothing, tools and other items.

Nissan has announced that Single Cab, King Cab and Dual Cab Chassis variants of the Australian-market NP300 Navara range are now on sale. These latest model variants comprise 13 separate versions and join the Dual Cab pickup variants that commenced sales in June this year. These new variants are now on sale and complete Nissan’s NP300 Navara model range in Australia.

The all-new NP300 Navara has been praised for a variety of standout features, including the availability of the impressive twin-turbo diesel YS23DDTT engine with its 140kW / 450Nm output (ST and ST-X), the standard-fitment seven SRS airbags, including driver knee airbag, a maximum braked-trailer towing capacity of 3,500kg and class-leading diesel fuel economy. Like the NP300 Navara Dual Cab range, the Single Cab and King Cab variants enjoy similar feature-rich standard equipment lists and competitive pricing, offering tremendous value to Australian buyers.

Single Cab
The NP300 Navara Single Cab range is available in two model grades – DX and RX –with either a QR25 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (122kW and 238Nm, DX 4x2 only) or the YS23DDT 2.3-litre single-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine (120kW and 403Nm). Both 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains are available, both controlled by a standard-fitment six-speed manual transmission; a seven-speed automatic is available as an option for the turbo-diesel RX 4x4.

All Single Cab models are cab-chassis in configuration. A pickup, style-side rear body is not available. Maximum payload capacities for NP300 Navara Single Cab models range from 1,196kg to 1,362kg, depending on model grade and drivetrain. All Single Cab variants are fitted with leaf spring rear suspension.

Standard equipment is extensive and includes:

King Cab
Adding space and style is the all-new NP300 Navara King Cab, which is available in three model grades: RX, ST and the range-leading ST-X. The King Cab body design offers seating for up to four occupants, with rear seat access via a clever reverse-opening door panel behind each side door. The King Cab range is available only in turbo-diesel power, specifically single-turbo-diesel (120kW and 403Nm) for the RX grade and a twin-turbo-diesel (140kW and 450Nm) for the ST and ST-X grades.  The RX grade for the NP300 Navara King Cab is available in either cab-chassis or with a pickup style rear body. The ST and ST-X grades are available only as a pickup. All King Cab variants are fitted with leaf spring rear suspension.

Also joining the Australian NP300 Navara catalogue is one additional variant of the Dual Cab range: the Dual Cab-Chassis 4x4. This workhorse-oriented Dual Cab variant will allow fitment of a drop-side tray cargo body and comes fitted with leaf spring rear suspension and a maximum payload capacity of 1,151kg.# It is available only in the RX model grade as a 4x4 with single-turbo-diesel power.
