Comfort-enhancing functions transform the travelling experience for the driver and passengers. The front seats feature 24-way movement thanks to the new seat frames, with wider and deeper foams as well as heated arm rests. In the rear a completely redesigned cabin and seating layout create a tranquil sanctuary with no compromise to the rear load space.
If you’re working while being driven, up to 17 connection points including domestic plug sockets, USB, HDMI and 12-volt are all available; 4G Wi-Fi hotspots for up to eight devices and convenient storage are all designed for the business traveller. The cabin is tailored for relaxation with luxurious seats offering 25 massage programmes thanks to Hot Stone massage technology within the seat backs.
Wider, softer seats offer sumptuous comfort. Reclining by up to 40 degrees, they make the most of the additional 186mm legroom (now 1,206mm in total) and can be deployed at the touch of button. The exemplary comfort extends to heated and cooled seats, plus heated arm, foot and calf rests. For additional convenience and personalisation, all seat functionality can be controlled via a smartphone app, whether inside or outside the vehicle.

The elegance of the interior has been elevated by the seamless integration of the most advanced infotainment system yet created by Jaguar Land Rover. Touch Pro Duo, codenamed ‘Blade’, combines two high-definition 10-inch touchscreens on the centre console working in perfect harmony. Information can be swiped from one screen to the other, making the layout highly intuitive and engaging to operate, with unrivalled functionality.
Following the introduction of the new Range Rover Sport plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) last week, Jaguar Land Rover’s ICE to ACE journey continues, moving from conventional internal combustion engines to autonomous, connected and electrified vehicles.
The efficient new Range Rover P400e provides sustainable performance by combining a 221kW 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine with a 85kW electric motor. The 297kW total available power output – available through the permanent four-wheel drive system – delivers 0-100km/h in 6.8 seconds and a maximum speed of 220km/h.
With an impressive 640Nm of torque, the new powertrain combines to deliver dynamic performance with traditional Range Rover capability, comfort and refinement.
Thanks to its electrified powertrain, the Range Rover P400e emits only 64g/km on the NEDC combined cycle and provides an all-electric range of up to 51km without the Ingenium petrol engine running. For the first time, customers choosing Land Rover’s flagship SUV can experience zero-emission driving.
The P400e provides whisper-quiet refinement with uncompromised off-road capability as well as enabling entry into areas with restrictions for air quality, including most congestion charging zones.
Drivers of the new PHEV model can choose from two driving modes:
- Parallel Hybrid mode (the default driving mode) – combines petrol and electric drive. The driver can optimise battery charge or fuel economy by utilising one of two charge management functions:
- -SAVE function – prevents the battery charge dropping below a pre-selected level
- -Predictive Energy Optimisation (PEO) function – entering a destination in the navigation system enables the feature, which utilises in built GPS altitude data for the selected route, to intelligently combine the electric motor and petrol engine to maximise fuel economy
- EV (Electric Vehicle) mode – enables the vehicle to run solely on the electric motor using the energy stored in the battery, the ideal solution for quiet, zero-emission journeys
The powertrain’s precision and control make for serene progress in all conditions and across all terrains. Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2 technology has a unique calibration to intelligently and precisely distribute torque from the electric motor, which has no creep speed and is able to deliver maximum torque from zero rpm, to all four wheels. This gives greater control during low-speed off-road manoeuvres, confirming Range Rover’s outstanding breadth of effortless capability.
When rapid charging the 13.1kWh high-voltage lithium-ion battery, a full charge can be achieved in as little as 2 hours 45 minutes at home using a dedicated 32 amp wall box. The battery can be fully charged in 7 hours 30 minutes using the 10 amp home charging cable supplied as standard. The Range Rover’s battery is covered by an eight-year, 100,000-mile, 70 per cent state of health warranty.
The Range Rover 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine is longitudinally mounted, with the 85kW electric motor housed in the ZF automatic eight-speed transmission at the centre of the vehicle alongside the 7kW on-board charger. The access point for the cable is at the front of the vehicle, while the prismatic cell lithium-ion battery is mounted at the rear beneath the boot floor. The P400e is available in both standard and long wheelbase body styles.
The new Range Rover has been enhanced with further technologies for greater comfort and convenience:
- Gesture sunblind: opened and closed by an advanced gesture control system that senses an occupant’s hand movement. All it takes to open the blind is a rearward swipe in front of the rear view mirror, and forwards to close
- Air Cabin Ionisation: uses nano-sized charged water particles to cleanse and purify the air for enhanced passenger wellbeing
- Pixel-laser LED headlights: advanced technology is brighter and yet intelligently blanks sections of LEDs to avoid dazzling oncoming drivers
- Activity key: customers can securely lock and unlock their vehicle without the need to carry a conventional key fob
To experience tailored Range Rover luxury and performance in its most dynamic form, customers can now savour the enhanced SVAutobiography Dynamic – the most powerful production Range Rover to date. The output from its V8 supercharged petrol engine is up to 416kW (a 12kW increase), which delivers 0-100km/h in only 5.4 seconds. Striking design revisions include an exclusive Graphite Atlas mesh grille design with chrome inserts and a revised rear bumper with integrated metal tailpipe finishers.
Designed and engineered by Jaguar Land Rover in the UK, the new Range Rover will be produced at the company’s Solihull production facility and is available to order now, with first deliveries from the end of 2017 (market dependent).
Taking its place alongside the design greats of all time, the Design Museum welcomed a new exhibit this evening: the Range Rover Velar. Velar launches with a suite of consumer technologies, working together to create an in-built technology butler. At its heart is an all-new, cutting-edge infotainment system called Touch Pro Duo.
Dubbed Blade by development engineers due to its slender profile and clean surfaces, the innovation makes the in-car technology experience clearer, quicker and more enjoyable, enhancing every journey.
The fourth member of the Range Rover family was unveiled in spectacular style to a capacity audience at the Design Museum, London, who also enjoyed a Velar photographic exhibition by world renowned photographer Gary Bryan. The images are now being showcased on the brand’s Instagram channel: @landrover
Velar is the first ever vehicle to be launched and displayed at the new Design Museum, which opened to the public in November 2016 after moving from its original Shad Thames location. The new model was simultaneously shown for one night only in a pop-up display on Kensington High Street, West London, alongside the Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover.
Velar is now on public display in the Design Museum, London, in a unique installation, open until 5 March 2017. The exhibit is called ‘Reductionism’, showcasing the philosophy of stripping away complexity to reveal true quality. The last time Land Rover displayed a vehicle in this way was in the early 1970s when the original Range Rover was shown at the world-famous Louvre Museum in Paris, as an example of “exemplary industrial design”.
Jaguar Land Rover also announced a partnership with the London Design Museum, which will bring a series of collaborations, exhibitions and events to the museum over the next three years.

Advanced consumer technology is reflected in the use of trend setting materials. Unique in the segment, the Velar offers a sustainable, premium textile seat material as an alternative to leather. The Dapple Grey material was developed together with Kvadrat, Europe’s leading manufacturer of high-quality design textiles, and is complemented with Suedecloth inserts.
Pivotal to the contemporary, design of Velar are the full Matrix-Laser LED headlights, the most slender ever to appear on a production Land Rover, the flush deployable door handles, and the Burnished Copper coloured detailing on the front bumper blades and fender vents.
Velar has a sophisticated four-corner suspension system, delivering peerless refinement with unrivalled comfort and control.
Five engines are offered at launch, ranging from the clean, responsive 180PS (132kW) 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel, to the potent 380PS (280kW) supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine. A 300PS (221kW) Ingenium petrol engine will join the Velar range later in 2017.
Production of all Range Rover models supports more than 15,000 British jobs and a further 60,000 in the supply chain. Production of all Jaguar Land Rover models at the four UK manufacturing plants directly supports more than 40,000 British jobs and a further 250,000 in the supply chain.
Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell drivers now have more options than ever for refuelling, following the opening of a new high-tech site in Teddington, Greater London. Developed in partnership with ITM Power, the new filling station is based at Teddington’s National Physical Laboratory, and is just the first of five new hydrogen sites planned for the London area this year.
It joins other high-tech facilities in Hendon, Heathrow, Swindon and Sheffield, and is the latest new filling station to be opened as part of the British government’s £6.6 million hydrogen infrastructure investment strategy. Part of the investment will also include the building of the four additional hydrogen stations in and around London, including one in Rainham, East London, near to Canary Wharf.
Coinciding with the launch of the new hydrogen station in Teddington, the Office for Low Emission Vehicles launched the Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle Fleet Support Scheme. This new £2m fund allows public and private sector fleets to get as much as 75 per cent off the cost of new hydrogen-powered vehicles, including ix35 Fuel Cell, bought by April 2017, as well as the cost of running them for three years. Interested businesses must submit a bid to be part of the scheme by Monday 4 July.
With the ix35 Fuel Cell already in use by businesses such as Johnson Mathey, TfL, Air Products, ITM Power and Anglo American, Hyundai has seen demand grow in line with developments in the refuelling infrastructure. There are nearly 400 ix35 Fuel Cells on the road globally and 15 in the UK.
Hyundai Motor UK CEO, Tony Whitehorn said: “When we made the ix35 Fuel Cell commercially available we were blazing a trail, and we made a commitment to help in the development of the refuelling infrastructure – the fruits of which can clearly be seen with this, and other station launches happening this year. We also know how well received the ix35 Fuel Cell is with our existing fleet customers so we’re very happy to be involved with the government’s new £2m fund to encourage more businesses to switch to hydrogen.”
Dr Graham Cooley, ITM Power’s chief executive, said: “The opening of five public access hydrogen refuelling stations in London before the end of 2016 is a big task for us, but car manufacturers like Hyundai have already made huge advancements in hydrogen technology and we’re very excited to be at the cutting edge with them.”
The Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell is powered by a 100kW electric motor, can travel almost 600kms per refill. Priced at £53,105 OTR (including part-funding from the Europe-wide HyFive project) it’s available for immediate order directly from Hyundai Motor UK.
The all-new Jaguar XF has been revealed during a dramatic ‘high-wire’ water crossing in the heart of London’s business district. Expert British stunt man Jim Dowdell, veteran of Hollywood movies including Bond, Bourne and Indiana Jones, drove the all-new Jaguar XF 240 metres across a high-wire to demonstrate the new XF’s lightweight aluminium-intensive construction. The new XF is 80kgs lighter than its closest competitor. The feat took place high over the Royal Dock in London’s Canary Wharf. The all-new XF brings an unrivalled blend of refinement, fuel economy, dynamics and design to the business car segment. It will make its global motor show debut in New York on 1 April. With segment-leading figures for interior space, the all-new XF’s dynamic, coupé-like design is formed around Jaguar’s aluminium-intensive architecture and combines the outstanding proportions, elegant surfaces and pure lines which define all Jaguar cars, with exceptionally low aerodynamic drag.
The cabin utilises a seamless blend of contemporary luxury materials and finishes, traditional Jaguar craftsmanship and state-of-the art technology. With features such as the new InControl Touch Pro premium infotainment system and 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster. The original XF’s sleek exterior and luxurious interior made it a desirable, aspirational vehicle. Combined with benchmark driving dynamics, the XF was like nothing the else in the segment and has gone on to become Jaguar’s most-awarded car. The all-new XF retains its predecessor’s core attributes but uses Jaguar’s advanced aluminium-intensive architecture to elevate them to a completely new level. Featuring 75 per cent aluminium, the architecture enables weight savings of up to 190kg over the outgoing model and an increase in torsional stiffness of up to 28 per cent. To handle the enormous amounts of data, InControl Touch Pro features a solid-state drive and a quad-core processor. The all new Jaguar XF will make an extraordinary journey across London on 24 March, one week ahead of its public motor show debut in New York.
