Faithful to the core, New Mazda MX-5 adds more power, torque and tech, delivering on its promise of a thrilling, top-down driving experience.

Available from late September, the world’s favourite roadster upgrades powertrain, dynamics and safety across Roadster and RF variants.

Mazda MX-5 has applied advanced technologies to each of its engines, SKYACTIV-G 2.0 and SKYACTIV-G 1.5, to extract maximum power balanced with linear response to maintain its Jinba-ittai sensibilities.

Looking to replicate the free-revving feel of the 1.5L, engineers thoroughly revised the SKYACTIV-G 2.0, ultimately lifting the red line to 7,500rpm, boosting power from 118kW to 135kW and torque from 200Nm to 205Nm.

The comprehensive update saw changes made to the air flow intake and exhaust systems, piston shape and weight, crankshaft and connecting rods, achieving increased air intake, improved combustion speed, reduced exhaust losses and mechanical friction.

SKYACTIV-G 1.5 was also revised, with some of the same technologies applied to piston shape and combustion chambers, accounting for an increase in power from 96kW to 97kW and a boost in torque from 150Nm to 152Nm.

SKYACTIV-G 1.5 is available exclusively with the entry-level Roadster, while Roadster GT and all RF variants are equipped with the more powerful SKYACTIV-G 2.0 engine.

To match the extra power under foot, manual and automatic transmissions were revised to deliver a sharper response and more direct driving feel. Plus, shift timing at turn-in and torque control at turn-out have been tuned for greater precision in sporty driving situations.

Deepening the connection between car and driver further, New Mazda MX-5 introduces telescopic steering, making it easier to find the ideal driving position.

Mazda Australia Director of Marketing, Alastair Doak, said the update gives a driving experience that is true to the original.

“Every time we update Mazda MX-5, it’s in pursuit of refining and enhancing the thrilling drive that is so unique to our iconic two seater,” said Doak.

“Added power has been finely balanced to ensure the same smooth, direct response is felt from the moment the throttle opens up.”

Mazda MX-5’s five star ANCAP safety rating has also been bolstered, with the addition of a rear camera to all grades, and more advanced i-ACTIVSENSE safety technologies to the standard safety package, including Smart City Brake Support [Forward] (SCBS-F) and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR).

New-look 16-inch alloys with a black metallic finish are available for the 1.5L Roadster, while RF gets 17-inch wheels also finished in black metallic. Roadster GT and RF GT models sit on 17-inch wheels with a bright silver finish.

The detachable cup holders have been made more rigid for less wobble and easier to fasten and remove, while seat levers have thicker internal frames to give a more assured feel when operating.

There are five interior trim options for MX-5, with Mazda’s Chroma Brown nappa leather available as an option for RF GT.

New Mazda MX-5 is available in a choice of six exterior colours, including Soul Red Crystal Metallic, Machine Grey Metallic, Snowflake White Pearl Mica, Ceramic Mica, Eternal Blue Mica and Jet Black Mica. RF GT variants also have the option of a black roof for an even sportier look.

Available from late September, New Mazda MX-5 has a starting price of $34,190* for the 1.5L Roadster, with the RF GT topping the range at $48,960*.

New Mazda CX-3 defies its dimensions, packing even more style, value and power into the small SUV’s latest update.

Releasing in Australia at the end of August, New Mazda CX-3 has seen design, equipment and engine upgrades to enhance its timeless appeal and the elements that make it one of the most popular small SUVs in the segment.

On the exterior, a new front grille adopts bold horizontal lines to achieve a more assertive stance, while rear combination lamps on sTouring and Akari models have been refined to give a more premium and precise look.

On Maxx Sport and above, gloss black adorns the fog lamp bezels and side pillars, sharpening the detail of the areas around the window and highlighting the flowing, floating roofline.

Inside, New Mazda CX-3 has been given a substantial makeover with a revised centre console design accommodating the newly added Electric Parking Brake (EPB), now standard on all grades.

The change from a manual park brake to an electric one has meant the Command Controller has been relocated, moving forward for easier reach. A folding padded lid has also been fitted to the console box, doubling as a comfortable central armrest for driver and front seat passenger.

Taking comfort and convenience a step further, for Maxx Sport and above, the folding rear armrest features two cup holders that can carry containers of varied sizes.

Urethane foam with a high-damping quality has been adopted for the front seat cushions to give greater ride comfort, and seat upholstery has been changed to full leather on the high grade models.

High grade sTouring and Akari also get a new anti-glare interior rear-vision mirror that automatically cuts glare, dimming the reflections of strong, bright lights.

Boosting safety, a reverse camera is now applied to all grades, joining a comprehensive suite of standard i-ACTIVSENSE safety technologies to support the driver, including Smart City Brake Support Forward and Reverse (SCBS F/R) and Emergency Brake Assistance (EBA).

The range topping Akari also adds Mazda’s new 360° View Monitor and Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with Stop & Go, the only vehicle in its category to offer both functions.

Further still, sTouring and Akari grades adopt newly designed, bigger, 18-inch wheels with a bright metallic finish that better absorb high frequency road noise and vibration.

Dynamics have been further advanced with suspension Electric Power Steering (EPS) revisions.

New Mazda CX-3 is available with the SKYACTIV-G 2.0L petrol engine, which has seen a range of SKYACTIV technologies applied to improve economy and promote quicker engine response, lifting power from 110kW to 111kW at 6,000rpm, and torque from 192Nm to 195Nm at 2,800rpm.

The new SKYACTIV-D 1.8L turbo-diesel engine is also offered, replacing the smaller capacity 1.5L engine in the previous model.

Combined with a host of SKYACTIV technology upgrades, including redesigned stepped egg profile combustion chamber, ultra-high piezo injectors, a new coolant control system and Natural Sound Smoother, the new engine boosts power to 85kW from 77kW at 4,000rpm, while torque remains a high 270Nm delivered between 1,600 and 2,600rpm.

Managing Director of Mazda Australia, Vinesh Bhindi, said the changes to New Mazda CX-3 enhance its appeal as an aspirational SUV.

“With its original styling, great ride and handling and impressive practicality, Mazda CX-3 was a class leader from the minute it arrived in Australia and has remained so ever since,” he said.

“This latest round of upgrades enhances the winning elements of the Mazda CX-3, elevating its elegance, performance and functionality, firmly cementing its place as the small SUV of choice.”

New Mazda CX-3 is available in four model grades, with Neo and Maxx variants upgraded to Neo Sport and Maxx Sport to sit alongside sTouring and the top-spec Akari models.

New Mazda CX-3 is available in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive guises with either the 6-speed SKYACTIV-MT manual or 6-speed SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmission.

New Mazda CX-3 is available in a choice of eight colours, matched with five model-dependent interior colour schemes.

Holden’s dream ute just became a reality. Enter the Colorado Z71 Xtreme, Holden Colorado’s newest edition, based on the celebrated Colorado Xtreme concept vehicle, first unveiled at the Bangkok International Motor Show in 2016.

Designed and built by Holden’s talented Port Melbourne-based design team, the Colorado Xtreme showcased a wide range of concept accessories that captured customers’ imagination; accessories that have now inspired the new vehicle.

Holden’s Colorado Z71 Xtreme’s tough exterior loaded with accessories is matched by its off-road capability, ready to take on any terrain or driving conditions.

To help tackle all types of activity, the Colorado Z71 Xtreme, based on the top of the range Colorado Z71, adds a best-in-class winch system equipped with a heavy-duty bash plate, as well as 10,000 lb load capacity and a 30m synthetic line.

Colorado Z71 Xtreme’s high visibility LED light bar, combined with a winch bar, upgraded front suspension, all terrain tyres and vehicle recovery kit, add to its go anywhere capability, day or night.

Holden’s tough, limited-edition ute also boasts a long list of concept vehicle inspired genuine accessories, designed and developed in Australia.

“The top end of LCV market continues to develop, and we’re seeing a growing number of customers demanding greater off-road capability,” said Holden’s Product Marketing Manager, Andre Scott.

“The Colorado Xtreme was a concept car that resonated with our customers, and to not only put it into production, but elevate it, is very exciting,” said Holden’s Product Marketing Manager, Andre Scott.

“As a base vehicle, Colorado Z71 is already very capable, so we’ve expanded our Genuine Accessories range for additional off-road capability. Cue the Holden Winch system, the Xtreme’s hero accessory, which is a game-changer.”

“Backed up with a long list of accessories, customers can have confidence that their ute will not only look rugged but will be able to perform in the harshest of environments,” he said.

Equipped with a big 2.8 litre Duramax Turbo Diesel engine, 500Nm of torque* and a 3.5 tonne towing capacity, the Colorado Z71 Xtreme boasts the same impressive credentials of the Colorado Z71, with a new-look tough exterior and upgraded off road capability to match.

Hyundai Motor Company Australia (HMCA) has announced pricing and specifications for the new 2019 Tucson range.

The revised 2019 Tucson line-up comprises four variants, with a new range-opening Go model.

2019 Tucson Range

The 2019 Tucson’s updated look begins with a new visage featuring the Hyundai’s signature cascading grille, restyled headlamps and daytime running lights.

New wheel designs in 17-inch for Go and Active X, and machine-finished 18- and 19-inch for Elite and Highlander underscore Tucson’s fresh exterior.

Every 2019 Tucson features more standard equipment than the preceding model.

A new floating tablet-style multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is standard across the range.

Tucson Go boasts a 7.0-inch OEM display radio and exterior mirror turn signals and, atop the range, 2019 Tucson Highlander gains a heated steering wheel and wireless (Qi) smartphone charging.

Tucson Active X offers an array of additional features, including leather interior trim, an 8-inch sat-nav system with live traffic and lifetime map updates, Infinity Premium Audio, rear park assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Tucson Elite benefits with the addition of Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW) among the extensive suite of safety technology.

2019 Tucson benefits from a new eight-speed automatic transmission, paired with the 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine with all-wheel-drive. The smooth and intuitive eight-speed automatic makes the Tucson more economical as well as building on its excellent performance and refinement.

The turbo-diesel engine is offered in each of the four model grades, along with a 2.0-litre direct injection petrol for Go, Active X and Elite, and a 1.6-litre turbo petrol for Elite and Highlander models.

The introduction of an optional SmartSense™ Safety Pack makes advanced safety accessible to every Tucson owner.

The SmartSense™ pack available for automatic Tucson Go and Active models brings Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and Driver Attention Warning (DAW) systems among the safety and convenience features.

Just as for every new Australian Hyundai model, excepting the iLoad and iMax, Tucson benefits from a specific Australian suspension and steering calibration honed on our uniquely challenging city and country roads.

“With a crisp new look, greater safety and technology, and a chassis tuned on Australian roads to delivery superb comfort and refinement, 2019 Tucson is an appealing upgrade of Hyundai’s best-selling SUV,” said Scott Grant, Hyundai Motor Company Australia Chief Operating Officer.
